Old curmudgeon Willy Thompson born 1924 longest-serving leader of our famed all-Japanese American 442 boys — resigns vs. his fellow punky younger counterpart Sons/Daughters of 442 egotists

WWII war hero Bronze Star recipient & fabled Yashijima/Waiakea native Willy Okino Thompson (mom is Okino kazoku/family, dad is Scot immigrant at famed Hilo Iron Works) born 1924 resigned abruptly and unconditionally in protest vs. his fellow punky younger counterpart Sons/Daughters of 442nd RCT (regimental combat team) based on the waru-boza (adolescent impulse stupidity) attitude of the punk kids that ole’ codger Willy kicked out them from the 442nd Club headquarters.

*

Irony is that ole’ Willy (my dad’s hanai baby brother) actually encouraged the Sons/Daughters gang to use the 442nd Club facility for its Nisei Veterans Legacy Center project, among other non-profit activities.   But the Sons/Daughters outfit falsely prompts that ole’ Willy kicked out this wingbat critter.   Willy simply was trying to ensure the non-profit status of the 442nd Club, with the Club’s tax compliance protocol in part stating, “The organizations that are allowed to use our address, phone number, and secretarial service are the 442nd RCT Foundation and the Sons and Daughters.”

*

Bitter irony is that the head of the Sons/Daughters had the opportunity to absolve ole’ Willy of this false rumor spread by the Sons/Daughters — but unsurprisingly failed to do so   (what do you expect when my Sons/Daughters peers do nothing but piggyback out of monstrous vanity & ego on the legendary accomplishments of their fathers???!!).

*

Yet, it’s also not surprising that Willy himself unceremoniously resigned in “lost cause” fashion, being that Willy is an older version of the furyoshonen (intemperate A-hole) Sons/Daughters gang   — reason purely is that

*

post-1920 born local settlement kids finally had the opportunity to graduate from high school, thanks to public education messiah Oren E. Long 1889-1965, who iron-willed that our Oligarchy Big 5 never again would enslave especially kids of recent immigrants to  feudal plantation tyranny.    Willy & age peer Dan Inouye typify the fully aggressive A-hole Americanized generation  — unlike our older 100th Batt. conscripts born before 1919 who were shackled to no more advancement beyond the 8th grade   — public school tuition fees beyond the 8th grade  imposed by our feudal haole monarchs were comparable to unaffordable private school tuition fees today.

*

The schooling difference between the 100th & the 442 punky brats is why the 100th never embraced the loudmouthed, ostentatious, & totally “ugly Americanized” 442 A-holes.

*

My Dad Toshi 1913-1998 is Willy’s fellow 2nd Batt. rifleman & Silver Star recipient for saving lives, not taking lives (retrieved Dad’s mortally wounded CO & fellow grunt).  Yes, Dad never got past intermediate school (jr. high level today), but Dad & baby brother Willy were inseparable till the day Dad died.

*

I know Willy’s mentality and my fellow Sansei (Sons/Daughters 3rd generation) mentality like the back of my hand.   Issei immigrants are considered 1st generation, Willy’s Nisei WWII peers are considered 2nd generation.     My Sansei generation peers simply are an extension of Willy’s A-hole brat Nisei generation.

*

BTW, ambivalent as I sound, Willy & Willy’s biological Thompson brothers did NOT have to sign up with their “suicidal” fellow buddaheads out of Yashijima/Waiakea & elsewhere in the plantation camps/settlements (such as my dearest dad)  —  because our Thompson boys (esp. George was our super-hero athlete & mega-star) were half-HAOLE & exempt from attack missions with our incredulous 442 boys  — but our Thompson boys were Yashijima/Waiakea lifelong residents first & foremost — & simply stayed with our tough as nails/hard scrabble buddahead scrappers — till death do they part.     On (implicit duty), baby, On all the way!!
