Yes, detachment is the aspersion leveled vs. Buddha.

*

But Buddha’s detachment is to distance oneself from one’s base impulse in order to get perspective/clarity on a matter/situation.  Such was June Gutmanis’ (1925-1998) mantra, to see the forest from the trees.

*

But when an issue results in foreseeable injury, June immediately is on top of it, just  as Buddha is.

*

After all, Buddha was the living embodiment of a soulful warrior, being the valorous son of a kingdom Prince.

*

Buddha’s rejection of Hindu status tripper stratification in favor of “everybody’s equal” is Buddha’s greatest contribution to humanity.

*

Buddha’s ascetism discarded material/social status in favor of grassroot compassion/solace.

*

No, Buddha was not detached re: Social Gospel/Dharma.

*

Buddha, like June, dived right into the matter to avert pain/suffering for others.

*

Buddha reminds me of alter ego/mentor June, a picture of radiance, gracious-majestic yet earthy, serene, compassionate alike to king and courtesan, murderer and monk, banker and outcast, salve to the sorrow-stricken, with inexhaustible reserves of blessings for us all for our uplift.

*

Just the same, June’s wondrous quality of progressive idealism, to serve everyone high AND low, inspires us all to overcome our travails in this human condition and to engage immediately in peace and kindness.

*

Education/schooling aim to sharpen the intellect.

*

But true wisdom aims to mature and balance the personality/nature of us all.

*

Accumulated experience hopefully results in wisdom, so long as we can put them together coherently and compassionately, unlike the utterly fabulous accumulated experience of both Rumsfeld/Cheney, who didn’t put things together to result in wisdom.

*

Self-reflection is axiomatic just as Social Action is.

*

Exposition entails both tradition and progressive reform.

*

Atman/Soul is just as pertinent to Myanmar/Burmese heroine Suu Kyi born 1945, a model of Bhikshu/Theravada female ascetism, as it is to June.

*

Example — Crosswise leap as one comes out of a bamboo stem, where one was shut in, just as one who trusts in the salvation of Buddha, who is so saved.  Atman/soul is the release/
freedom of the Will.   Called ocho, this crosswise leap is akin to Kierkegaard’s leap to faith (known as leap of faith).
